Notes From a Satellite

I’ve been in the Science Center computer lab for four hours now, reviewing for a midterm tomorrow. The exam is about, um, the universe. A broad topic, you’d think, but it’s not a lot of material (while science students have to work hard to round themselves out in our liberal arts education, humanities/social sciences folk can muck around in our pseudo-science courses like the dudes in Mythbusters). As I sat here, filling this little head with bare-bones information about dark matter, proton-proton chains, telescopes, and parallaxes, Frog Eyes’ “I Like Dot Dot Dot” came on — I’m not sure whether their refrain is “Fuck, fuck the son” or “Fuck, fuck the sun“, but the latter version resonates with me more just now.

And another tune for would-be astronomers: “Lovely Universe”, Circulatory System.
